With MLA, Seftons created the innovative ‘MLA Challenge’ in which six meat producing families across Australia compete for a year to improve productivity and profitability by applying the latest research and decision-support tools, with guidance from their mentors. The project has attracted huge interest in the meat-producing community as the six challengers progress through the competition.
Seftons assembled the steering group, established sponsorships (including with Westpac, Woolworths and Qantaslink), negotiated significant media coverage and support (including with ABC Landline and Fairfax Agricultural Media), and sourced inspiring mentors for each family. An important part of the project has been the social media campaign – a relatively new medium for this target group. We have worked with the Challengers to develop their social media skills so that each family is able to use Twitter, blogs and video blogs to report regularly on their progress. They are attracting strong followings.
