During 2014 the Australian Government ran an Agricultural Competitiveness White Paper process, with the ultimate aim of grow agricultural competitiveness, farm gate profitability and rural and regional prosperity. The first step in the process was releasing an Issues Paper and inviting stakeholders to respond. The CRRDC supports and facilitates the 15 rural R&D corporations to achieve their purposes. The CRRDC engaged Seftons to coordinate with its members and write a joint response to the Issues Paper.
We researched the background issues, ran a workshop for stakeholders discussing the issues and the response of the RDCs, canvassed ideas further in telephone interviews, and drafted the joint response on behalf of the CRRDC. We involved the rural R&D corporations in finalising the paper, which presented a balance of views across the participating organisations.
